The Church of Watten appears to have always stood on this site and there is accounts of it being present in the early 13th century. Today only the outside walls of the old parish church remain to a uniform height of 0.5 metres. A commemorative cross in the centre of marks the site of 'The Parish Churhc of Watten, 1659 to 1952'.
