Caithness and Sutherland are known as one of the UK’s last true wildlands, offering visitors a breathtaking blend of sandy beaches, imposing sea cliffs, rugged natural landscapes, rich heritage, and warm hospitality.

Tourism is fundamental to the economic and social fabric of the region and Venture North’s destination strategy, practical support and promotion are focussed on growing the sector’s positive impact for the benefit of all.

As the lead body for tourism in Caithness and Sutherland, Venture North ensures the region’s views are represented in regional and national policymaking and strategy development, and advocates for its members.

Highland Council are proposing a visitor levy for Highland region of 5% on overnight accommodation, year-round. A twelve week public consultation on this closes Friday 7th February 2025 and it is important for businesses, residents and visitors to input to the Highland Council consultation portal.
