Established by friends and co-founders, Struan Mackie and Alex MacDonald, North Point Distillery began as a Rum distillery, releasing its flagship product, North Point Pilot Rum -- a double-distilled, young rum which is aged for a year in former whisky casks, melding the histories of Scotland's land and sea together.
Initially released as Distiller's Editions, North Point Spiced Rum and Crosskirk Bay Gin soared in popularity and soon joined Pilot Rum to create the North Point range of spirits.
In November 2023, North Point Distillery announced its single malt whisky brand, Dalclagie, with aspirations to release the first bottling in 2028.
Distillery Tours include sampling of the North Point range of spirits and a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Rum, Gin, and Whisky. All spirits are available to purchase in the onsite shop, along with local artisans' goods and crafts.
As a Sustainable Distillery, North Point boasts bespoke, electric Stills, a neighbouring wind farm and AD plant, as well as plastic-free packaging, and locally and ethically sourced ingredients.
A stone's throw from Thurso, North Point Distillery can be found in the Forss Business and Energy Park, overlooking the 12th Century chapel, St Mary's, and the notoriously wild Pentland Firth and Crosskirk Bay.
