Although no records show exactly when this church was built it is thought to have been constructed in the 12th century. Its now bare walls at one time were plastered, both inside and out, with the interior richly painted.
Unsually the tower is joined to the church at the corner and it is thought it could have been used as a marker for ships entering the river. At the front of the church the large tracery window underwent conservation work in the 1980s. The church closed for workshop on the last Sunday in December 1832.
