Built by Sir William Edgar Horne in 1930 who purchased the estate, which included Loch Shin and nearly all of Lairg village in 1919. Sir William financed a wide range of developments in Lairg and the surrounding area. This included a diesel generator making Lairg one of the first villages in the Highlands to gain an electricity supply in 1924.
