Roadside memorial, commemorating the raising of the regiment in the early 19th century. This regiment featured in the well known events such as the 'thin red line tipped with steel' that held back the Russian cavalry at Balaclava and the storming of the Sikanderbagh in Lucknow.
This is part of the Strathnaver Trail which links archaeological sites Bettyhill to Altnaharra. Guide books and trail maps are available from the Strathnaver Museum.
