The story of John O'Groats Ferry begins in 1971 when a local scientist, Ian Thomas, bought a small speed boat and named it the Pentland Atom. Now, 50 years later, the ferry is still owned by the same family but is quite a bit bigger in size! With over 1 million visitors in the last half century this is a remarkable tale of great things starting from small beginnings.
