Also known as Dun Dornadilla, this broch stands testament to the early builders who made it. Brochs are a type of fortification unique to Scotland. They emerged in the Iron Age around 2,300 years ago, and were built until early centuries AD.
Dun Dornaigil has withstood time's tests well. The walls still stand an impressive 6.7 metres high, and you can see from the fallen rubble inside the tower that they once stood even higher. It may well been 14 metres tall. Although the interior is not accessible the single entrance doorway into the broch remains and is one of the most impressive broch doorways in existence, courtesy of its massive triangular lintel.
